The last three digits show the post office under which a particular address fall. 

National Postal Week is also celebrated in October 9th to October 15th.

ഇന്ത്യന്‍ വ്യോമസേന ദിനം - October 8

ഇന്ത്യൻ വ്യോമസേന രൂപീകൃതമായ ഒക്ടോബർ 8 - ന് ഇന്ത്യൻ വ്യോമസേന ദിനമായി ആചരിക്കുന്നു.

1932ലാണ് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ വ്യോമസേന രൂപം കൊള്ളുന്നത്. റോയല്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ എയര്‍ഫോഴ്‌സ് എന്നായിരുന്നു ആദ്യത്തെ പേര്. ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഭരണത്തിന് കീഴിലായിരുന്നു അന്നത്തെ സേന. 1950ലാണ് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ എയര്‍ഫോഴ്‌സ് എന്ന് പേര് മാറ്റിയത്. 

 

ജീനോംറ്റിംഗിലെ പ്രത്യേക സങ്കേതമായ ക്രിസ്‌പർ എഡിറ്റിംഗ്(CRISPR) വികസിപ്പിച്ച രണ്ട് വനിതാ ഗവേഷകർക്ക് ഇത്തവണ രസതന്ത്രത്തിനുള‌ള നൊബേൽ പുരസ്‌കാരം. ഫ്രഞ്ച് ഗവേഷക ഇമാനുവൽ ഷാർപെന്റിയർ, അമേരിക്കൻ ഗവേഷക ജെന്നിഫർ.എ.ഡൗഡ്ന എന്നിവർക്കാണ് പുരസ്‌കാരം.

ജീനോം സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യയിലെ സൂക്ഷ്‌മ വിദ്യയായ ക്രിസ്‌പർ എഡി‌റ്റിംഗ് വഴി ഏതൊരു ജീവിയുടെയും, സൂക്ഷ്‌മ ജീവികളുടെയും, സസ്യങ്ങളുടെയും ഡിഎൻഎ ഗവേഷകർക്ക് മാ‌റ്റാനാകും.

 

ലോകമെമ്പാടും ലക്ഷകണക്കിന് ആളുകളെ ബാധിക്കുന്ന കരൾ രോഗത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന ഉറവിടമായ ഹെപ്പറ്റൈറ്റിസ് സി വൈറസ് കണ്ടെത്തിയതിന് അമേരിക്കക്കാരായ ഹാർവി ജെ. ആൾട്ടർ, ചാൾസ് എം. റൈസ്, ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് വംശജനായ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞൻ മൈക്കൽ ഹൂട്ടൺ എന്നിവർക്ക് വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്രത്തിനുള്ള നൊബേൽ സമ്മാനം ലഭിച്ചു.

ഇത്തവണത്തെ ഭൗതിക ശാസ്ത്ര നൊബേൽ പുരസ്‌കാരം മൂന്ന് പേർക്ക്. ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാരനായ റോജർ പെൻറോസ്, ജർമൻ പൗരനായ റെയിൻഹാർഡ് ജെൻസെൽ, അമേരിക്കക്കാരിയായ ആൻഡ്രിയ ഗെസ് എന്നിവരാണ് പുരസ്‌കാരം പങ്കിട്ടത്

തമോഗർത്ത രൂപീകരണവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് നടത്തിയ കണ്ടെത്തലുകളാണ് റോജർ പെൻറോസിനെ പുരസ്‌കാരത്തിന് അർഹനാക്കിയത്. ആകാശഗംഗയുടെ കേന്ദ്രത്തിലെ അതിശയകരമായ കോംപാക്ട് ഒബ്‌ജെക്ടിനെ സംബന്ധിച്ച കണ്ടെത്തലുകളാണ് റെയിൻഹാർഡ് ജെൻസെലും ആൻഡ്രിയ ഗെസിനും പുരസ്‌കാരം നേടികൊടുത്തത്.

ഫിസിക്‌സിന് ആദ്യമായി നൊബേൽ സമ്മാനം ലഭിച്ച സ്ത്രീ പ്രശസ്ത ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞ മേരി ക്യൂറിയാണ്. പിന്നീട് മരിയ ജിയോപ്പാർട്ട് മേയര്‍ ഫിസിക്സ് നൊബേൽ നേടുന്ന രണ്ടാമത്തെ വനിതയായി. 1921ൽ വിഖ്യാത ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞൻ ആൽബർട്ട് ഐൻസ്റ്റീനും ഫിസിക്‌സിൽ നൊബേൽ ലഭിച്ചു
